Load testing of enterprise deployment environment

One of the biggest Insurance Company in USA.
Project
The customer was in the process of acquiring company wide licenses for a repository based central requirement management tool.
The load emulation and testing was required to check if the proposed environment and the product can handle the load expected by the customer.
Solutions
An eight machine environment was setup in the Plasma’s development lab to emulate up to 500 users concurrently working on the product. A team of test automation engineers created scripts of emulating actual users, different roles played by them and their expected pattern of use of the tool.
Each machine then acting as a client, emulated load factoring of up to 70 users. A server machine with dual processor and 2 GB of RAM acted as the product server. The test was run on number of scenarios for as long as eight hours stretch.
The resulting data was collected and analyzed to produce analyze the different metrics of interest for the project. The final copy was submitted to the customer for analysis and review.
